Waterhog Classic Mats

Waterhog Classic Mats have become the most recognized entrance mats in the industry. Due to their "waffle" or raised square pattern, these entrance door mats effectively scrape shoes clean of dirt, debris and water. Waterhog Mats also features a water dam border that holds up to 1.5 gallons per square yard.

• Waterhog Floor Mats have an anti-static polypropylene surface that dries quickly and will not be prone to fading or rotting. Thus, Waterhog Classic is a perfect floor mat for both inside and outside environments.

• To clean Waterhog Mats, simply vacuum, hose off or use steam or shampoo extraction.

• Waterhog Classic Entry Mats are now made with 20% recycled content.

Customer Questions & Answers

How thick is the Waterhog Classic Mat?
- Samuel M.

Waterhog Classic Mats are 3/8" thick with the gripper backing and closer to 1/4" thick with the standard smooth backing for use on hard floor surfaces.  The beveled edges on each side of the mat slope down, starting at the full height of the mat.  (When door clearance could be an issue there are 2 easy ways to verify: first is to use a stack of computer paper and place it in front of the door and then slowly open it.  Then take a ruler and measure the height of the untouched papers.  The second option is for us to send out a free, cut sample of the actual Waterhog Classic material for customers to test under the door.)  That being said, the Waterhog Classic mats can be used around just about all residential and commercial doors without issue.

How can I cut the Waterhog Classic Mat to fit around a door frame without the mat unraveling?
- Charles A.

It's easy to cut down Waterhog mats to fit around obstructions without worrying about the mat coming undone. The best way to trim the Waterhog Classic is by using a utility knife with a fresh blade (and a ruler/something with firm, straight side for a clean edge). The integrity of the Waterhog Classic mat will remain for many years and the polypropylene fabric surfacew will not unravel. (Please note, however, that you will lose the finished edge in areas where the border is removed.)

Can I use the Gripper backing on a hard floor surface?
- Timmy M.

Although you are certainly able to use the Gripper-backed Waterhog mats on a hard floor (like tile, wood, concrete, LVT, etc.), it is best to use the Smooth backing on this type of flooring. The reason is that the Waterhog's Smooth back has greater surface contact with the floor below to help hold the mat in place better. (The biggest mismatch to avoid is using a Smooth backing on a carpet otherwise, for your situation, selecting a Smooth backing for your Waterhog Classic is the ideal way to go.)

Can I customize the Waterhog Classic Mat?
- Orlando J.

The Waterhog Classic is one of the most customizable floor matting products around.  There are two ways to customize this mat: in the sizing as well as adding a custom logo design. If the desired size isn't listed as a standard option, simply click the Custom Size box and select from a variety of widths and lengths in one foot increments up to 60 feet. This can be done online or over the phone. If, instead, you're looking to add a custom logo to promote your brand, add a message, an address, or just about anything else, check out the Waterhog Logo Floor Mats.

Are these Waterhog Classic Mats going to hold up well for use in a busy high school?
- Giancollo M.

Certainly!  The entire Waterhog product line, including the Waterhog Classic, was engineered for use in high-traffic, heavy-use environments.  These durable mats will do a terrific job scraping off dirt, dust and debris while also absorbing moisture off of shoes and boots that trek across the matting day in and day out. Waterhog Classic mats, even when used in demanding environments, will last for many, many years and hold up quite well - both aesthetically and functionally.

I'm a designer and I'm trying to coordinate the color of the Waterhog doormat with other finishes. Can I get a sample to show my client?
- Jennifer H.

Absolutely! We are happy to send out free, small cut samples of the actual material in any of the available colors to see which options work best before making a purchase.  Just let us know what color(s) are needed and our team can get the color samples out the door typically within 24 hours or less.

Help! We have a building inspection on Friday and need to get these mats in place ASAP! Are you able to rush an order for us so we can have the Waterhog Classic matting on the floor in time?
- Maurice C.

Sure thing!  We are always happy to accommodate Rush requests. Please give us a call or send us a message with exactly what you're looking for and where the waterhog mats need to ship to and we will find the best way to make it happen for you.

Where is the Waterhog Classic Mat made?
- Robert H.

The entire Waterhog product line, including Classic matting, is manufactured here in the United States, using American-sourced raw materials.

We plan on using the Waterhog Classic doormats in an upscale New York apartment building and think they look great but only want to lay the matting down when it's raining or snowing. If we roll and unroll the Waterhog mats frequently, will the edges start to curl or break apart?
- Erica G.

Great question! These mats are made with a premium, commercial-grade rubber backing that is both non-reactive yet very flexible. These properties allow the mat to be placed on virtually any surface and also frequently be rolled up / taken up and stored away without negatively affecting the integrity of the rubber backing and border. Specifically, even if these Waterhog mats are rolled up and put back down with any frequency, they should lay flat right away and not curl up nor should the edging break away.

My 2-month-old puppy just walked across the mat with muddy paws and then peed on it. How can I appropriately clean the waterhog mat so it's as good as new?
- Leah V.

Not a problem; Waterhog Mats are made with a solid rubber backing and border and the surface material is polypropylene which is stain-, fade-, and mildew-resistant and does not absorb any liquids.  The best thing to do is take the mat outside and simply hose it down. Using just a little bit of dish soap will ensure the Waterhog Mat comes out of this fresh and clean and as good as it was before the accident, if not better!
